Interacting
From the Diocese’s Safe Ministry Children and Family Policy Manual:
…
These procedures apply to all clergy, paid staff, and unpaid member ministers (CPSUMMs), to help children and adults feel safe in ministry and to help detect problems before they turn into risk to children.
Communication
… All verbal interactions with children should be positive and uplifting. CPSUMMs should strive to keep verbal interactions encouraging, constructive, and mindful of their mission of aiding parents in the spiritual growth and development of children …
Emails/Texts/Phone Calls
… CPSUMMs will not solicit or encourage private emails, texts, or phone calls from children/youth. When a CPSUMM has a legitimate church-related reason to contact children/youth via email/text/phone, the CPSUMM will include the child’s/youth’s parent(s) and/or another CPSUMM. …
Social Media
… All social media contact with youth will only be with the Rector’s permission on a church-sanctioned site that is not private. CPSUMMs will not solicit nor encourage private social media messaging with youth. …
Photography
… No photograph of any child or youth may be used, posted, or shown to anyone without written consent by the parents/guardians. Any such written consent must be provided to the church administrator for filing with other church records. …
