From the Diocese’s Safe Ministry Children and Family Policy Manual:

State laws require that certain categories of people responsible for the care or treatment of children report to state authorities when there is reasonable cause to believe that a child has been abused and/or neglected or is in danger of abuse and/or neglect. The specific laws, and thus their specific requirements, vary from jurisdiction to jurisdiction. … Please review the applicable statute(s) carefully to determine who is required to report potential abuse and/or neglect, and what procedures are required by the jurisdiction. … Every person responsible for the care of children and youth in the church must be aware of the applicable child abuse reporting requirements and procedures in that jurisdiction.

Please see our Children and Family Policy Manual for more information.
