Spiritual Warfare in these Troubling Times: Put Your Boots on

In Part Three of Spiritual Warfare in these Troubling Times, Bishop Phil Ashey begins his discussion of the pieces of the Armor of God named in Ephesians 6:10-18.  This episode covers the first three pieces: the belt, the breastplate, and the shoes.  Bishop Phil explains what each means according to Paul using the great tradition of commentators.  Each piece is described as it existed in its historic form, showing us what it defended and how this is extended in the spiritual world. For example, the breastplate covered the soldier’s heart and, "In the Bible, the heart is the living, feeling, decision-making center of our very being. " The breastplate represents the right relationship with God and the defense offered against the accusations of the enemy, for there is “no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.”

Watch and learn how to arm yourself, fasten that breastplate, and get those boots on!

The Series

We are fighting a daily battle whether we realize it or not. While we tend to separate the spiritual and the earthly, this is not an accurate or effective view. Spiritual Warfare is real, relentless, and intertwined with the physical realm. Fortunately, we have a good and gracious God who has given us armor to counter our enemy. From the Shield of Faith to the Sword of the Spirit described by Paul in Ephesians 6:10-18, these weapons allow us to take the strongholds of the enemy.

In this seven-part course, originally given live at St. James Anglican, Bishop Phil Ashey teaches us to recognize the attacks of the enemy, how to don the armor of God, and the attitude and disposition we need to go from victims to victors.

The series ends with a powerful prayer and has an eighth, bonus episode from the live Q&A that ended the initial presentation of these lessons.
