Prayers after the shooting of Charlie Kirk
Dear saints of God in the Diocese of Western Anglicans,
I am still in shock from the assassination of Charlie Kirk today in Utah. I am in grief that our nation, once founded on liberty and justice for all, has allowed a spirit of hatred and violence to enter our public squares with ever increasing frequency.
Please pray for Charlie Kirk's wife Erika and his children and for the losses they are bearing now and in the days ahead.
Pray for all those who are grieving his death. Pray for all political leaders of all parties that they may have the moral clarity and urgency to pull our country back from the precipice of hatred and violence. And please join me in praying this prayer for our country:
For the Human Family
O God, you made us in your own image, and you have redeemed us through your Son Jesus Christ: Look with compassion on the whole human family; take away the arrogance and hatred which infect our hearts; break down the walls that separate us; unite us in bonds of love; and work through our struggle and confusion to accomplish your purposes on earth; that, in your good time, all nations and races may serve you in harmony around your heavenly throne; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
