Fire in the Fireplace: Who is the Holy Spirit?

Welcome to the first full lesson in Fire in the Fireplace, a series on the Holy Spirit in our churches.

I am posting these videos weekly as part of a response to my recent Town Hall meeting with the Los Angeles Deanery. During this time, several people asked if they could receive more teaching through videos and podcasts by their bishop. I am delighted with that ask!  This season gives us a great opportunity to study the person and work of the Holy Spirit, a chance for us to have a fresh Pentecost today.

This video looks at the question "Who is the Holy Spirit?" We may fall into the habit of thinking of the Holy Spirit as a kind of non-descript force, but he is the third member of the Trnity: A person with a mind, heart, spirit and will. What is the will of the Holy Spirit? What does that mean for us?

The Fire in the Fireplace series explores the work and power of the Holy Spirit in the Christian church today. The videos are each between 4:30 and 7:00 minutes long and accompanied with study notes and guides for small groups.

Over the next few weeks, I will be publishing the videos on our website and sending the videos out in newsletters. If you wish, you can also find the whole series and the accompanying notes here.
